Brief summaries of the characters in Chobits.
WARNING!!!!! SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!!
Chii
Chii is your normal everyday robot/percosom who just happens to be VERY VERY special. Chii is found by Hideki in the garbage and since percosoms cost sooooo much. Hideki decides to take her. Chii is so special because, percosoms cannot move or do anything without an OS. Yet when Hideki found her and turned her on, she was moving all around without one. Later, Minoru tells Hideki she might be a Chobit, a computer legendary persocom that can move without an OS and do a lot more than any other percosom. Chii had to be taught by Hideki everything she knows and is ver very cute.
Hideki Motosuwa
Hideki used to have a good life until he failed his college entrance exams. Then he had to move to Tokyo to go to Cram School. Right after he finds a job and a really cute girl that works there, Hideki finds Chii in the garbage and turns her on. Hideki's friend Shimbo is surprised to find out that Chii could move without an OS but, since Hideki knows nothing about computers, he was very confused. He teaches Chii words and sentences and everything to know about th real world.
Shimbo Hiroshi
Shimbo is Hideki's best friend who gives him tips about Chii with his Laptop persocom Sumomo (Or Plum in English). He is also dating their cram school teacher Mrs. Shimizu. Eventually he ends up running away with her until she decided to marry him. Shimbo has bought a whole crap-load of stuff for Sumomo so she can basically do anything.
Minoru Kokubunji
Minoru, let me say, is the hottest 12-year-old computer genius you'll ever see! He's sooooo gorgeous...... Well anyways, Hideki met Minoru when Shimbo couldn't figure out why Chii couldn't move without an OS. When Hideki finally came over Minoru explained that Chii could possibly be a Chobit. When he tried to research Chii even more, he ended up crashing a part of the system of his own percosom, Yuzuki. Later, he gives Hideki the advice never to fall in love with his percosom, they'll only make him cry. As you get farther, you learn more about Minoru's past.
Sumomo/Plum
Sumomo (or Plum) is only the CUTEST laptop percosom you'll ever see! She is Shimbo's but, later is given to Hideki when Shimbo runs away with Mrs. Shimizu. Sumomo helps Hideki, Yumi, and Shimbo with many searches on the internet about Chobits and Chii.
Yuzuki
Yuzuki is Minoru's custom-built persocom. Basically, Minoru built her after his sister died and, made Yuzuki look almost exactly like her. His sister, Kaede (a crossover from Angelic Layer), was very kind and loving when Minoru was down so, he made Yuzuki the same. At one point, Minoru thought it was too unbearable to remember is sister and told Yuzuki to stop acting like her.
Yumi Oomura
Yumi works at the place as Hideki and his best friend. She often gets jelous of Chii and Hideki because, she thinks percosoms are so much better than humans and thinks she can't do anything. She has whole love war with the manager at a bakery shop near their work called Chihirou but, I won't tell you everything.
